A split system air conditioner is made up of two main components: an indoor unit and an outdoor unit, connected by refrigerant pipework and electrical cabling.
The indoor unit draws warm air from the room, filters it, and passes it over a cooling coil. Heat is absorbed by the refrigerant and transferred outside to the outdoor unit, where it’s released into the air. The cooled air is then circulated back into the room. In heating mode, the process is reversed.
Split systems are popular because they’re:
Energy efficient
Quiet to operate
Ideal for cooling or heating individual rooms or zones
They’re commonly installed in bedrooms, living areas, apartments, offices, and small commercial spaces. Correct sizing and placement are critical — an undersized or poorly installed unit won’t perform efficiently, no matter the brand.
Regular servicing keeps your split system running efficiently, reliably, and hygienically — and helps prevent costly breakdowns.
Our split system air conditioning servicing includes:
Cleaning filters and indoor coils
Checking refrigerant levels and pressures
Inspecting electrical components
Testing airflow and temperature performance
Identifying early signs of wear or failure
Servicing is recommended at least once every 12 months, or more often for heavily used systems or commercial environments. A well-maintained split system:
Uses less power
Cools and heats more effectively
Improves indoor air quality
Lasts longer
If your system isn’t cooling properly, smells musty, makes unusual noises, or struggles to maintain temperature, it’s often a sign that servicing is overdue.
We service split systems across Wollongong and the Illawarra, working on all major brands and providing honest advice if repairs or replacement should be considered.
